And for 15 years researchers sought a means to diagnose
It, and find a marker, or reliable a test,
That would, reliably and surely, put uncertainty to rest.
Now Columbia, Stanford, Harvard have been tossed into the fray,
To find diagnostic tools that can be pointed to the way,
How definitely to determine how to find the syndrome best,
And they did succeed – or, almost, how to use a surefire test:
Turns out, the immune system (it can be checked in patients' blood)
Is quite different from that of healthy people. Good?
Not so fast! For recent onsets, it is working like a breeze,
But it is no good for three years' or older a disease...
So, a biologic marker apparently is here,
But, “Back to the lab!” Hopefully, not for another 15 years!...
