They defy explanation, and beg reason and belief:
One generates two particles and sends them on their way,
And when one is altered, the other does obey,
And shows that it, too, changes its property, like spin,
No matter how far away from each other they've been.
Now this extraordinary way in which the particles behave,
Can be explained more easily, if one thinks of them as waves:
For these two waves, generated at the same moment precise,
Must always be in phase, no matter what may arise,
And if one is altered, and its phase upset,
The change's felt by the other, and instantly, at that,
'Cause lacking a discontinuity at the origin, it is clear,
The two ways will as a single one obviously appear,
And, recalling wave theory, everyone can see,
That a wave's phase velocity is higher than is “c”!
In fact, someone proposed, perhaps in jest
To put these strange happening to test,
And check, if indeed these alterations might
Occur faster than the speed of light:
They thought they'd cause a particle to race
All the way to the station built in space,
And see if it has really changed its spin
Before it has left its entangled twin...
To reverse the problem, one might expect
That the experimental entanglement effect,
Is proof, that the particles must so behave,
If, indeed, they're acting like a wave.
Perhaps a learned physicist, in the know,
Will determine if this reasoning is flawed...
