Irritability takes hold.
Things I used to just ignore
Cause me grief and make me sore.
A trivial nuisance becomes the source
Of an outcry or a curse!
And I berate
My stupid fate,
If for a date
I turn up late!
I anger vent
At an event
I couldn’t possibly prevent!
I cannot brook
A boring book,
I lose my cool
And play the fool
When I react
To trivial facts.
I don’t think I used to act this way
Before my temples turned grey!
I have to keep these things in check
Or I’ll become a nervous wreck!
