Of autumn's show of blazing fire,
Simply never does perceive
What we every year admire.
For squirrels' odd color perception
Like some in humans sometimes seen,
Suffers from a strange deception:
It can't distinguish red from green.
That's what recent scientific tests,
Carefully designed, have seen -
And as the scientists attest,
For squirrels, the fall leaves still look green...
So, as we admire the fall display
Of glorious hues that thrill the mind,
The squirrel goes its normal way,
Burying nuts it'll never find...
