Some people take naps, while others do not,
Some drink warm milk to help fall asleep,
Some think happy thoughts, and others count sheep.
Some are sound sleepers, some wake up at night,
Some sleep on their backs, some on side left or right,
And it is well known that in good health to keep,
One requires sufficient restorative sleep.
Apnea in children quite often shows up,
They simply stop breathing, and then they wake up.
One's sleep habits change, whether older or younger,
Whether one's happy or not, or has pangs of hunger.
When one misses a night's sleep, it's easy to make up,
But when it lasts longer, it's far from a snap,
For, if the conditions turns out to be chronic,
It's hard to correct with a pill or a tonic.
The hours of sleep with one's aging increase,
And lack of sleep can cause some serious disease,
And when one gets sick or in years decline,
One sleeps more, in hours, from seven to nine.
