The new field of gene therapy a milestone has now seen:
Pigs' erratic rhythms was fixed by manipulating genes.
In a test in Los Angeles, both elegant and smart,
The genes that, in an embryo, build “rhythm cells” in the heart,
Were injected in the pigs' sine-atrial space,
And restored 11 pigs' heartbeats to their normal pace,
And what is more, all pigs that were subject to the test
Maintained a healthy rhythm, whether active or at rest!
And even though the “cure” did last but two short weeks,
The test was hailed as remarkable, a neat and clever trick!...
