And a new charm
Pervades the city’s streets,
The sky is clear,
There is great cheer,
And the air is sweet.
A cardinal
Proclaims to all
In his flute-like praise,
With joy and pride,
He’ll find a bride
A new family to raise.
And I feel sure
That I’ll endure
For yet another year,
And with good grace
My fate will face,
To conquer gloom and fear.
While snow in heaps
Still outdoor keeps,
The robins gaily sing,
The weather’s warm,
And there’s new charm,
On the first day of spring!
