It boggles the mind
That one always can find,
As one studies the puzzles untold,
Of rules and relations
In Nature's equation
That govern the natural world,
A numbers' preserve
That what we observe,
Fits practically all the known facts,
Inventing strange symbols,
And using them nimbly
Of a construct that is quite abstract.
In centuries past,
Over time periods vast,
The logical rules had evolved,
That govern still,
What had gone and what will,
To explain what goes on in the world.
That mathematics'
Pervasive, emphatic
Explanations we'd come to respect,
And to keep us aware,
What is here, what is there,
And to keep us serene and content...
