It looked so strange, I couldn't help, but rushed to look it up.
It turned out, despite it looks, 'twas not a beetle but a crab,
And one could safely handle it, it did not sting or grab.
When disturbed, like a hedgehog, it curled into a ball,
And one could roll it, like a ball, it did not mind at all.
The female carries kids in a pouch, like a kangaroo,
And while our blood is red, the pillbug's is bright blue...
To breathe, it must have moisture, and though it may some folks offend,
It gets it through its mouth, or through its other end...
It is a gentle freak of nature, harmless and benign,
Its common name is roly-poly, and it fits it fine...
