And there is no question of “that” being “that”.
But now that we've learned the DNA game,
It seems we're less different than we are the same:
If the DNA difference of a beast like a mule,
Or chimpanzee, from ours is just minuscule,
Then there is no wonder at all that we watch
Our own behavior our “cousins” to match.
And though we've not learned to fly like a bat,
We play like a dog, we hunt like a cat,
Our children we herd like a goose and a gander,
And like bears, we like through the landscape to wander.
Like a frog or a lizard we bask in the sun,
And like otters we splash in the water for fun.
Of course, this would always be so, understood,
But DNA's “proof”, and that makes us feel good...
