Gravity will sure bend light
It was proven that it's so,
More than a hundred years ago.
The effect is quite intense,
Resulting in a mighty lens,
When a vast galactic cluster
Strong gravity field will muster,
And when light rays 'round it bend,
A delay to form they tend,
And when interposed between the source,
They form what's called an “Einstein Cross.”
Multiple images of a star
That reaches us from way afar.
And as separate events.
For all purpose and intent
They give astronomers new clues,
What in the universe ensues.
In a recent demonstration
Of gravity lens application,
Scientists have seen a vast
Supernova's mighty blast,
And have watched it, as it's been
Blown apart to smithereens
More than 9 billion years ago,
At least four times in a row...
And it will be seen again
In a decade or so, when
It will again explode in rubble,
Observed anew by NASA's Hubble...
Thus will Einstein's gravity lens,
Reveal long ago events...
