Entomologists enthrall:
A checkerboard left on a table,
Unusual research enabled:
Dr. Abram was amazed,
As at the checkerboard he gazed,
For, influenced by where,
On a black or on a white square,
A stinkbug's eggs in color differed.
Dr. Abram soon deciphered,
That, unlike a chameleon,
Which his color changes to what he's on,
These eggs – and he proved that it was true
Before they were laid, had different hues!
The stinkbug sensed the life reflected,
And the differences detected,
And, in response, she changed her eggs.
How? Still an explanation begs...
