Use in job discrimination,
Congress did a law enact:
“Genetic Nondiscrimination Act.”
But when an employer used DNA
Not in a discriminatory way,
But to identify a worker
Who did something he hadn't ought'ter.
The man, afraid he'd lose his job,
Agreed to provide a sample swab,
And found not guilty. Even so,
He sued under the GNA Law.
And even though 'twas for identification,
The judge ruled it “genetic information.”
She said, they sequenced DNA,
So it came under GNA's purvey.
So now geneticists' pursuits
Are tangled up with legal suits...
